Healthy Start of North Central Florida Coalition and Central Healthy Start Coalition specialize in home visiting programs, which include Healthy Start, Parents as Teachers, Nurse-Family Partnership , T.E.A.M. Dad, the Healthy Start Doula program and NewboRN Home Visiting. On average, these programs combined provide over 180,000 services to more than 6,200 pregnant women and families annually, and screen 1,538 newborns in the region for health and developmental outcomes.
Our home visiting programs provide critical support to hundreds of families across our 16-county area. From prenatal to age 3, families are supported by nurses or other trained professionals. According to the Child and Family Research Partnership, home visiting programs are successful because they provide the following benefits:
- Moms and babies are healthier
- Children are better prepared for school
- Children are safer
- Families are more self-sufficient
- We save money
In addition to the home visiting programs, our Connect program links pregnant women, caregivers and families with young children to needed services, such as education and support in childbirth, newborn care, parenting, child development, food and nutrition, mental health and financial self-sufficiency. On average, Connect provides services to 23,825 pregnant women and families annually.
We work in partnership with WellFlorida Council for the fiscal administration and staffing of our programs, as well as to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services provided to clients, develop strategic plans to improve pregnancy outcomes and enhance child development, and provide professional trainings.
